an officer and a gentleman

i have never watched the bachelor. in fact, i don't watch any reality shows, including cooking shows, any forensics shows except the closer, any doctor shows, or any lawyer shows. i watch, for the most part, family dramas and shows that take place in high schools. also, the office because it's so damn funny.

however, on april 2 (or sometime afterwards, via DVR technology), i will be watching the bachelor. why, do you ask? because, reader, i know him.

andy baldwin went to college with me and was the major crush of a friend of mine. i wasn't really friends with him at duke, but after college, we were both living in san francisco (he was at UCSF medical school) and we had some friends in common out there. every so often, we'd see each other out at a bar or a party or watching a basketball game. and he was always exceedingly nice and friendly and, yes, extremely good-looking, although not my type at all.

even though i've never watched the show, i know what it's about and it will be interesting to see how andy will deal with the fact that, at the end of each episode, he has to kick some unfortunate lady to the curb. could you do that?
